Hibby Thach (she/her) is a 3rd-year PhD student at the University of Michigan’s School of Information, studying queer and trans people’s experiences with various platforms and technologies.
She researches how people create, connect, and express themselves online, focusing on content moderation, trans technologies, and live streaming. Her work, grounded in intersectionality and qualitative inquiry, has been published in Press Start, New Media and Society, and at ACM CHI, among other venues. She also brings her research into practice on Twitch, streaming variety content as @HibbyBoBibby. In addition, she also works within trans game studies as a founding member and contributor to the Trans Game Zine.
She is a member of Oliver L. Haimson’s CRIT Lab, Michaelanne Thomas’ AnthroTech Lab, and Lisa Nakamura’s Digital Inequality Lab.
